Airsound Spatial at The Distillery II’s Spatial Audio Event

We recently presented Airsound Spatial at a special event at The Distillery II in Bristol — a day that marked an exciting milestone for spatial audio in live environments.

The Distillery’s new live room has been built around Airsound Spatial technology, making it the first installation of its kind. The system is capable of reproducing any spatial audio format, using a PA configured in a completely new way.

The event featured two immersive playback sessions of original spatial works from artists, producers and game studios — including a track from an upcoming Call of Duty title, “Distilled” by Emre Ramazanoglu (written specially for the event), an extract from 28 Years Later, a piece by Mammut Film, and an excerpt from a new Amazon Audible production by Bristol studio We Are Audio.

Guests also experienced a superb Sony 360 VME demonstration, presented by the team at HHB.

It was fascinating to hear how spatial audio is now being used across such a range of creative disciplines — from the intricate layering of voices and ambience in an audiobook scene, to the power and scale of game and film soundtracks, to the dynamic movement of Atmos music. When reproduced at this level of fidelity, the results are truly immersive.

Below is a short film capturing the setup, behind-the-scenes moments and playback highlights from the event.

A huge thank you to Andy Leese for organising the event and to Sam Cunningham for bringing the system to life with such care and precision.
